Does every one have a Gotha in their hangar? Any one interested in trying out a massive coordinated strike on enemy positions with 5 or 6 Gothas in close formation?

Not sure yet. I suppose whatever targets of opportunity avail themselves on the Syndicate, or Hooligans. We could target a city as a trial. The Gotha dropped quite a few bombs on London. I would like to see how feasible and defensible 4 or 5 Gothas in formation would be, as well as how effective and practical. Active airfields, factories, towns. It might be a bit of an overkill for bridges. Without an airstart it would take time to form up though. The Gothas bombing London had a long run to climb to altitude.

Anything more than 2 gets to be a wild killing spree. Get the keys set up for auto turn left and right so everyone will turn on the same angle. You provide a support system of gunfire that most planes can't afford to attack the formation. Yes its a massive strike with 5 or so. I got a mission in a campaign that had about 5-6 of the Gotha's hit a target..... it was a huge firestorm.
It can be done on the SYN server since they air start most of the Gotha's around 2-3KM. Not that hard to get up to alt with that. You don't need much of an escort at all if there are five of us in a good formation. We could wipe out airfields in a single hit or the huge factories everyone seems to be moving to.
Count me in....

I'm willing to give it a shot, for the practice if nothing else. We'd need to coordinate the spawn-in, get in formation and very carefully maneuver in level flight...would want to coordinate bomb sight settings too.
The lead pilot would have to very much on the ball and coordinate the drop also.
The Syndicate servers have had some nice, juicy factory complexes in their missions lately...would be the perfect target

I don't have a Gotha in the hangar but I would love to just be along to watch that. Sounds very impressive.

Great ideas guys. Perhaps we should try a few runs on our server to get familiar with formation flying, coordinating turns on auto pilot and communications. I believe we already have a Gotha practice/training mission. Or we can do it on the server and see what comes up. I'm thinking the lead pilot could be issued an extra crew member in the nose gun position coordinating headings on the bomb run. If the lead plane is lost the nose gunner would exit and re-enter on the second-in-command leader plane.

Kestrel , you do not have to own the Gotha to ride in a gonner position. If you wish you could just in the front or back seat and tag along.

Roger that! If I can be there when you do it I will man a gun. I've been wanting to try that.
