Happy Thanksgiving to all! Hope it was a good one.... Just wanted to add one thing: my Mom is crazy! Do any of you guys have a Mom who makes 10 - 20 times too much food? My Mom goes nuts on holidays, because to her food = love. So we all get up at oh-dark-thirty and start helping make the feast because if we don't help her she'll have a "thrombo". Even though she knows what we normally have for breakfast is one cup of hot beverage, she'll start the day with a baked casserole of some type of egg, bacon, mushroom, cheese, etc. that would feed at least 10 people and also have all kinds of muffins and pastries, any one of which would basically feed me for the whole day. Then we have the "snacks" so we don't die of malnutrition while we are waiting for the turkey dinner that takes place at 4:00 pm at the latest: So what we have here is 4 different kinds of cheeses, 4 different kinds of sausages, like a gallon of hot bean dip (chips and extra gallons of bean dip not shown), cucumber hors d'oeuvres, vegetables and dip, smoked salmon with dill, green onion/cream cheese/ham roll-ups (like 3 pounds worth), various pastries and breads. We also had shrimp and dip that we didn't have the heart to even open up.... I won't even go into the dinner itself surrounding the 22 lb turkey and deserts that cannot include less than 2 distinct kinds of pies. I repeat: my Mom is nuts and can't be stopped. She is a Juggernaut of culinary excess. 'nuff said...

Navy Jake remembers my girlfriend in BNA (Nashville) with 4' of red hair, a gate agent for AA... I bet you my dog Asta that Wing had her work his flight going through MIA more than once... ol June would cook enough food for half the army... and we would have pilots coming through my apartment all throughout the day... Nick Romer, Mike Fox, Jeff Jennings, Henry Berg, Dan Dove, Van Searcy, Bob Beard, the list for NJ he might recognize one... guys would come by the apartment and eat and head back to the airport, it was a great time. She could not make mashed potatoes for less than 10 people... the recipe would not support it. I kept buying a bigger turkey each year just to hear the exclamation of how long it was going to take her to cook it... until finally she spent hours preparing it early in the morning and them exclaimed... WAY TO GO LARRY... it's TOO BIG it won't fit in the oven. We had to bend some metal to get it in... so I had to quit buying the biggest one they had... and my little wirefox terrier back then (also named Asta) would sit.... longingly in front of the oven window and sniff and watch the bird inside. You had to take a plate and go sit down because the entire table was covered with food, no room there.
Those were the days, if you are having them now, enjoy them and take lots of pictures and you will enjoy them all your days.
