I've written a quick converter that calculates the scale of any printed RoF map and then figures out the distance and time between 2 legs, based on aircraft type and altitude. Probably not very useful during a mission but it was a fun project. Only two inputs are required: 1- the distance of any one of the three grid squares of a printed RoF map or section thereof in cm (the 60km, 10 km or 5 km squares) 2- the distance of the leg in cm. The spread sheet returns leg distance in km and the time, based on the aircraft type you choose by checking a radio button next to the type. The only problem is you need Excel 2007 (.xlsx) for it to work properly. I believe the radio button function won't work with earlier versions. If you're bored and have nothing better to do, here is the download site: www.filesavr.com/asJQV0crDescription: File excel 2007 spread sheet File name: Time_distance_calculator_006 size 37kb Yes, I know. I should get a job... S! W

Just saw this post Wingover. I took a look at the link and when I hit download I just get an image file. Do I have to register to be able to download the file?
Just wondering, looks like an interesting tool.

Hi Geezer, Haven't heard from you for a while. How's things? Got your latest graphic invite last week. I don't think you need to register. I probably needed to refresh the site. The Time/distance calculator can be downloaded here: www.filesavr.com/asJQV0crI've made a couple of improvements to it including adding the SPAD 7, so the latest version is 007. It's pretty self-explanatory but you need excel 2007 to make the radio buttons work. I've also heard that you might have to add .xlsx at the end of the file's name to get it to be recognized by excel after you've downloaded it. Here's another couple of files (MS Word & jpeg) that places the airspeed performances for all the aircraft on one sheet for reference: www.filesavr.com/HKYC947iAgain, you may have to add the .docx at the end of that file named: AIRSPEEDS to have Word recognize it after you download it, and .jpg at the end of the other included file. Let me know if you have any issues with the files. Wingover. PS The speed performance of the SPAD 7 (180hp) is surprising. It's the fastest plane of the war, bar none.

looks like you need to register to download, will give it a look
I finally have enough bandwidth so I can host for 10 to 12 folks, have been focusing on simple mission building, gradually getting the hang of it
Next project is gathering the two or three manuals I've run into on Wingman strategies and developing a training regimen for our squad in ROF
With the Syn Server raiding and a number of newer members I think the squad is realizing we are overdue for training and a bit more disciplined flying...
I know I saw a few BH guys the other night, nice to be crossing paths now and again
Salute!
