The following notice was received from Herr Butzell of Jg1/J11, who many of you know. It's something to look forward to, and I hope they'll keep us posted.
S! All
JG1 Sufferd a complete loss of our web site and are in the process of rebuilding it. Things will still be dificult for the next month or so but we wanted to start moving forward with FIF.
The addition of even partially functional complex triggers in Multi play has allowed for an expansion of the online play in ROF. It also means expanded capabilites and rule changes for FiF.
First: there are no subtitles during play. Flares are used to announce enemy incursion into a target area. A diferent flare signal is used to announce mission accomplished. This maintains a fog of war on both sides of the lines. Neither side knows what any plane anywhere is doing or has done except when the game displays kill messages and it may be possible to turn them off as well.
Second: Rules have been reduced to allow for more freedom. Rules go more toward scoring than game play.
Overall it is a 2 hour mission with each team trying to either defend or attack. At the end of the mission the game will post Allied victories and then German victories. The targets are: A factory, Supply ship, train, supply convoy, 2 Artillary spotting areas, 3 baloons and a recon. The recons are merely pass over a target and get counted. The dificulty is that there are 2 southern and 2 northern targets and a recon must pass over 1 of each and then land alive. It is actually a long mission frought with danger. Also if the recon wants to live dangerously, they are allowed to attack trains or convoys.
We have a temporary site with a better explanation, example of maps, mission design element explanations, rules and a copy of the mission. Please remember, the mission has been tested but not everything can be anticipated. There may still be a bug. The mission elements, targets , counters, MCU and Icons, have all been saved as a group. They can be dropped anywhere and set up on a location in under an hour. Maps can be generated in advance and approved by both teams before a tournament series begins. Same thing with plane numbers , types and progression.
Temporary fif site home.nctv.com/jojo/FiF%202.html
I will also post this over at RAF 74, Jasta 5 and Wing Walkers.
