matter.
When I bought this monitor I didn't know what to expect, perhaps more perephrial vision. But what I find is that the resolution 1920x1080 in game looks more like 1024x768. Which means something, I'm not sure what, except at higher resolution I'm getting a picture where everything is already half zoomed in, I think. So that if I have a picture where everything looks bigger, resolution for resolution, I have sight advantage over someone with a smaller a smaller monitor, say 19 inch. Now there's ALWAYS the high probrability that I didn't set something up correctly in the monitor. But if what I'm seeing is what to expect then this adds just one more element in the equation of who might be more vunerable than whom vis a vis rig. I mean this in the context of how latancy can be a factor in markmanship for an example. Or pings to warpage. Not that it matters for me too much, I still, and always will, stink at flight sims. But for someone who knows what they're doing a big monitor can have a huge advantage over the little guy.

that is the fun of online gaming, it is always a balance between skills, luck and hardware. I was watching V. Klaue shoot at ground targets from the nose of the Gotha, and he was shooting nice tight groups out in front of the tanks, everytime... and I said you are leading them too much and he said Hey I am getting hits... I never saw a single hit... but I saw them blow up. The latency between us in the same plane was causing an error of about 10-15 meters at a range of about 60-70 meters.

Well, it was you I had in mind with this post. When we found those tents I had the feeling I was seeing more of them in one frame than you were. And most likely from a further distance.
Makes me wonder if when these sims are developed if they aren't maximized for the developers rigs/setups (I mean every part and size of their setups). So if you have less than they have in any wit, you'll not be running the game at optimal ability. And maybe if you have more than they, the same.

And you didn't ask your son to load up ROF just to see how it'd look?
For me, that would be too complicated to figure out. I can just about handle one screen.

S! Size does matter BUT only if your have the video card to utilize the size. With higher resolution you will have more demand from your card. You now have a 27inch monitor which demands a good card to provide high FPS and good eye candy. With the ability to use HIGH settings in ROF with your monitor you WILL be able to scan and find targets farther out due to the 1080p and the amount of pixels your monitor has over smaller sized monitors and larger LCD TV's.

Yes, this is my contention. Can squeeze just so much power out of a Chevy Chevette. And I reckon I'm running a Chevy Chevette type card these days. I have had the intention to replace this card since I built this machine (the card being a hold over from a Dell), but alas and alack, I do lack. Which card and power unit is the question (as time passes and the bank is replenished), my experiance with power units is that size is another consideration. Not so much wattage (which is of import) but physical size, fitment to case. But at this rate does anyone EVER get ahead of the curve? Maybe if you can afford to drop $1100.00 for the card VG teased mne with, too include all the perephial equipment that's required for that beauty. I wonder if Rockerfeller is a gamer. Time is not a gamers friend.
