Salute All!
Well I'm in the process of getting my game and machine back into flying condition and have run into a few minor problems. Now my game is all patched up, and I've noticed that if I fly with crossfire enabled game runs smooth, but I see large areas of terrain as blacked out squares. If I disable crossfire (which I had done in the past flying) I get shudders (this is new) I was wondering if anyone else was using an ati card and having similar problems. One other thing is my saitek throttle deal is having problems with the mixture and radiator controls being backwards, but throttle is fine. I seem to remember it was pretty easy to reverse this, but I don't remember how. Thanks!

Fixing the controls is pretty easy. You may have noticed, however, that there's a new interface for the response curves. Now there's a selection for each plane. All you have to do for throttle and mixture is select the plane, grab the pull-down menu for the curves, select the throttle curve, and look for a checkbox that says 'invert', or similar. Be sure to apply the change, and you're set. Sometimes I have to do this before each flight, for some strang reason.
Not sure about the black squares... I think I've heard of it though. I think maybe you might reduce your graphics settings incrementally and see if it helps. If I recall, it seems there were some issues with graphics settings even with really hot hardware...I may be confused though...others can probably help.
Hop on comms sometime and someone can walk you through.

I run two ATI cards in crossfire, and I get the "blacked out squares" too, actually, mine are gray, and it looks amazingly like the surface of the moon! Changing crossfire settings hasn't helped, it appears and dissappears randomly, with the only known "fix" being to "ALT+TAB" out and back. That fix only works about 70% of the time though, and another 20% of the time it "self heals". Occaisionally, it won't go away at all.
Wish I knew how to fix it for good, but several people have posted about this issue,,,,no direct response from 777, besides the usual (read in heavy Russian accent) "IS not problem..is FEATURE"

I have the same gray out problem as well. In my case, zooming in on the area to maximum will erase it back to the normal color, but when I zoom out again, the gray square will most likely re appear. This leads me to think it's a graphic overload. It happens not so often that it bothers me. Reducing the graphics demand on the card helps and rebooting the game and/or computer works as well. There is no rhyme, reason or detectable pattern as to when it appears.
